Science - questions 1,2,3,4 in Flight unit. Math - Practice p. 207-208 - #2, 3, 4, 6(step by step), 7, 8 & Reflect due for Friday. Last chance for pizza - forms and money must be in by 8:55 on Friday morning. Book Orders are also due tomorrow, April 1st. There is no school on Monday due to a Professional Development day for the staff. For those parents who indicated an interest in attending Student Led Conferences a letter and attached pages went home today. Please read and select a time that is convenient for you to attend the SLC. Thank you. Enjoy the great spring weather.

Day 4 - March 30, 2011

Math Corrections. For the girls going to basketball - you need to have the following Practice questions completed for Friday: #2, 3, 4, 6(Step by Step), 7, 8 and Reflect. You have to have the blue sheet of Triangles 4, as well. Library - tomorrow - return, renew. Health notes on Personal Standards and Rights v. Responsibilities - you need to borrow someone else's book if you do not have all of these notes. These notes must be caught up before next Health class on Wednesday, April 6th. Pizza lunch forms and money as well as Book Orders are due on Friday, April 1st. Report Cards still need to come back. Be sure to sign in the Term 2 space. There is no school on Monday, April 4th, as the teachers have a Professional Development day. Tuesday will be Day 1. Good luck to the girls' basketball team.

Math - the remainder of the assignment on the types of triangles is #3, 6, 7, 9 (Step by Step 1), #10 and Reflect. It must be done for tomorrow. French Portraits & Sentences and presentations must be ready. Science Electricity Career Reports ready for presentation. Social Country Poster ready for Wednesday. Report Cards should be back to school by March 30th. Book Orders and Pizza forms and money need to be in by April 1st - no extensions. Library - Thursday. Girls' Basketball on Thursday - you will have to catch up missed work and be caught up by Friday.

Math - write out the definitions for the three types of triangles that were introduced today - page 201. Draw accurate examples of each. Then, complete the Practice questions #1 and #2 (all parts). French Portraits & Sentence are due on Tuesday, March 29th. Science Electricity Career Report is due for tomorrow. Social - Country Poaster done for Wednesday and ready to present. Music Note Name Review Library - Thursday. Report Cards are due back by Wednesday, March 3oth.

The Math test is finished. Results should be in by Monday or Tuesday. One student still left to write it.

New Math unit on Geometry starting on Monday. Assignments will be posted here for absent students. Stay on top of it and ask for help when you are having difficulty.

Report Cards need to be signed in the Term 2 space by the parents. Please have report cards back by next Wednesday, March 30th.

Math - A Fine Line (bright coral handout) must be done for tomorrow. Study the Unit 4 on Angles. We will then skip Unit 5 for now and continue with Unit 6 - Geometry.

Report Cards went home today. Please make sure they are signed in the Term 2 space on the back and return them to school, in the envelopes, by the end of next week.

Day 5 - Wednesday, March 23, 2011

The curling bonspiel was short as the roads were too icy to bring in all the invited teams. Students curled from 10 until noon.

Also, due to roads, the basketball tournament is postponed until next Thursday, March 31st. All the rest of the details remain the same as they would have been for tomorrow. Just the change of date.
The Math from Tuesday's blog is still to be done for tomorrow. Math test is still to be written on Friday from 10:45 to noon. Come prepared tomorrow to ask questions of the angles unit which still give you difficulty.

Report Cards go home tomorrow.

The Student-led conference date will be in mid-April. The choice of dates and times will be coming soon.

Math - students missing school due to curling, basketball and hockey need to stay caught up in the Math assignments. For today - we completed questions 5, 6 & 7 in page 153. For tomorrow the questions are p. 153 #8, 9 and Reflect. Also, do the Show What You Know questions and especially (to be handed in on Thursday morning if you are going to basketball) #6,7,8,9, and 10.

Library tomorrow - return any books to the Library box before 9:00 a.m.

Music - Note Name Review

Test on the whole Angles unit on Friday, March 25th.

Report Cards go home on Thursday. Parents - be watching for them.

Day 3 - Monday, March 21, 2011

It is officially "Spring".

The sixes have a Math assignment which has to be completed for Tuesday. Make sure you understand and can use the rule about the sum of the angles in a quadrilateral always equals 360 degrees and how to find that using the "triangle rule". Complete page 151 an 152 questions #1, 2, 3, and 4 (step by step).

Music Note Name Review is on the list.

As well, the sixes will be finished this unit on angles and will be having a unit end test on Friday, March 25th. Any students knowing they will be absent for this test will be asked to write it on Thursday, the 24th, rather than leaving it until the 28th and missing the introduction to the next unit that day.

A Newsletter went out today.

Selected students will be participating in the Division Curling bonspiel here in Unity on Wednesday, March 23rd.
Selected girls will be participating in a Division Basketball tournament on Thursday. Any missed school for these students will have to make up the missed work on time. Extra class time will not be given.

Day 1 - Thursday, March 17, 2011

We had a sea of green today. Great spirit everyone.

Study for those tests. French, Science and Social.

Math - make sure that yesterday's assignment is firmly in your head as to how it works before going on to the more challenging questions from today - #7 (S by S6) #8 and #9. The principle is the same - the sum of the interior angles of a triangle equal 180 degrees. But also remember about complementary and supplementary angles - check your "notes".

With Report Cards going home next week, there are lots of due dates and tests to be prepared for.

The Science questions review is page 155 - all of the questions - for tomorrow. The test is on Friday.
French Tests and Social Studies are both on Monday.

Homework:
Math - page 148 #2,3,4,5,6 for tomorrow.
Art - Ted Harrison reproductions must be completely done and "hanging" by the end of Friday. Anything after that will lose 5 marks for each day late. This is your final assignment in this study of line and is worth a lot of marks toward this report card.
Email your word document with your picture and the title, your name and 2011 to
kathy.soloski@lskysd.ca so that I can get it printed. This must be done by Friday morning - 10:30.

There is the Drugs in our community presentation for the grades 3 to 6 students tomorrow afternoon and in the evening for the community.

Sub Lunch is coming up on Thursday. As well, Thursday, being St. Patrick's Day is green spirit day. So wear all of your green. There is a presentation on Thursday afternoon for the grades 3 to 6 classes on the "drugs in our community" that is noted in your newsletter.

Division Curling is coming up for many of the grade 6's. Watch for further details.

Social and Science tests Friday and Monday. Be prepared.

Nice weather - but watch out you don't get soaked.

Angles Terminology Quiz is Friday. Study your notes.

Health - Decision Tree assignment. Two situations must be decided on right away. Begin Decision Tree completion. This is your final assignment in this unit on Decision-Making so you will be "marked" on these two assignments for your term 2 report card.

Math corrections to be done for tomorrow.
Ted Harrison Art needs to be worked on as homework. You have one 30 minute class on Friday to finish it - it is due on Monday. Make sure you hand it in on time.

Book Fair is on tomorrow - with Family Night Thursday. It ends at noon on Friday.

The forms and money for the Sub Lunch are due tomorrow morning. Have it on my desk as soon as you arrive.

Students are not to arrive at school before 8:15 unless special arrangements are made with a teacher to work on school work.

The weather is forecasted to be more springlike - hopefully it is true.

The Ski Trip looks like it will be on for tomorrow. Come completely prepared for a day outdoors.

Math assignment is on drawing angles. Accuracy is extremely important. The assignment is page 141 and 142 - # 5 - step by step (purple); 6,9,10 and Reflect. If you were absent and missed the in class work, you will also have to do questions 1 and 2.

Science - communicate page 122 #1,2,3 and problems page 124 & 125 # 2 to 7.

Social - questions 1 to 4 & 6 on page 75 for Friday.

Sub Sale forms went home today. The money and completed forms are due on Thursday, March 10th. The actual lunch is March 17th.

The newsletter went out - there are some very important dates to take note of, so please check for the newsletter online or in paper.

Ski Trip - you are leaving at 8:00 a.m. Be at the school by 7:50. Make sure you have lunch or money for lunch and all of the outdoor things you need.

Math Assignment is to be completed for tomorrow. It includes yesterday's questions, plus the following questions: page 137 & 138 - 6, 7 (step by step - coral) and 9.

Social questions 1 to 4 and 6 on page 75 in the text for Friday.

Kids in the Kitchen forms are due tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.

Library on Monday.

A Math assignment was given today and is due for Friday. Students will have some time to work on it in class tomorrow, but not enough to get all of it done unless some of it is done for homework. So, Angles lesson beginning on page 134 - you should have questions 1, 2 (all parts as the example on the board showed), then question 5 and the purple page Step by Step should be done for Thursday. The rest of the assignment is question 6, the coral page Step by Step and number 9. Be neat and complete.

The same students still have Skills Bank to finish. Skills Bank needs to be finished by Monday, March 7th.

Kids in the Kitchen forms are due Friday at 9:00 a.m.

Book Order are due tomorrow.

The Library is having a Book Fair next week. Watch for information and posters in the school.

Check on your French, Science, Social, Music.

Library is on Monday. Have your books here and in the box right away in the morning.

The same list of homework assignments and due dates as yesterday is still on today's schedule. No every student has these assignments due, just some, they know who they are and need to get on with getting them done and in.
