Day 3 - Thursday, March 26, 2009

MATH HOMEWORK - please be sure that all of the corrections and questions are completed in the first pages. Today's work included pages 3b, 4a, 4b, 5a. Watch those ordered pairs!!

FRENCH TEST - study. The test is on Friday (yes, tomorrow).

Nutrient Labels and ingredients are still needed for Health class, too.

School Tees - please try to get your orders in for Monday, March 30th. That way I can get the orders sent to the company and we will have the clothes back in plenty of time for our class trip and Grade 6 graduation.

Tuesday, March 24, 2009 - Day 1

Report Cards were sent home today. Check for tests which need to be signed and returned, Resource Reports and a letter from me regarding interviews, all in the envelope.

We have started a new Math unit on patterns and relationships using sequences of figures,
t-tables and on grids. This will be a short unit and will be finished and a test written before the Easter break. So, it is important to stay on top of the daily work. I was pleased to see how quickly the students caught on to what they are learning.

Students still need to bring nutrient labels and ingredients from a packaged food or beverage for our Health unit on Nutrition.

There is a French test on "Etre" on Friday.

There are quite a few School Tees clothing orders in already. The deadline I need to observe is March 30th, which is Monday. So please decide soon.

Grade 4,5,6 ski trip tomorrow to Table Mountain. Have fun! Be safe!

Lastly, notes were sent home quite a while ago regarding the "puberty" classes with the public health nurse. The grade six sessions will be on Thursday. Boys separate from girls and regular classes will proceed while these sessions are going on. So, please be at school.

Welcome spring.

We had a great time curling!!

School Tees orders are coming in slowly. Just a reminder of the deadline of March 30th. You still have time, but not too much.

Remember to bring a food/beverage label with the nutrient list for Health class for Tuesday.

Have a super weekend.

Wednesday, March 18, 2009 - Day 3

The Geometry test seemed to go well. Not too many questions and all students finished well before the end of class. This is good.

Last Reminder: Sub Sale forms and money are due tomorrow - no late orders accepted.

Please remember to bring the label from a favorite "purchased" food or beverage. The label must include the name of the product and the "nutrients/ingredients" list. We need as many of these at school as possible by next week. This is for our Health unit on Nutrition.

Students who have yet to hand in their timeline for Social Studies must have it in by Friday, March 20th, before they go to the curling bonspiel.

That's all for now. Thanks for logging on and reading.

It's warming up out there!!

Students: be sure that your Math - Geometry section - is completely finished for Monday, including corrections. Test is on Wednesday.

Timelines are due Friday, March 20th before you go curling.

Turn in book orders on Friday. If you need me hold off placing the order until Monday, please phone me to let me know. If I don't hear from anyone, I will place the order on Sunday - online.

Sub Sale money and order forms are due on March 19th.
School Tees orders - March 30th.

The fundraising for the year end trip continues. A poster reminding people of the bottle drive on the 21st was sent home with each student today. These posters could be hung up in a place of business if you have your own business or the permission of another business. Parents: ask your child for this poster.

That's it for today.

Day 3 - Tuesday, March 10, 2009

Hopefully the students had a good long weekend. Too bad it was so cold. Our Professional Development day yesterday was good and thought-provoking and there are definitely some things teachers learned from the presentation.

Homework - if you were at school all day, you will have none from me.

Book orders are due on Friday. Thursday, if possible, but I will stop in on Friday and pick up the remainder. Scholastic did not send out a February one until I phoned and requested it, so that is why you only have February's book order now, along with March's and the Teen Reading Club.

Sub Sale order forms went out today. Money and orders are due next Thursday with the lunch being the following Thursday. If you have any questions, please contact Janice Leeson at 228-3029.

School Tees - March 30th.

Math Geometry Test on Wednesday, March 18th.

School Curling (4,5,6) on March 20th starting at 11:00 a.m. Regular classes prior to that.

I think that covers it for now.

Thursday, March 5, 2009

Day 1 - Thursday, March 5, 2009

I have never known exactly how many days of weather at the beginning of March decides whether March came in like a lion or a lamb. It was kind of lamb like a couple of days ago, but before that it was more lion like. Today, is an incredibly upset lion. Do we have to have 3 in a row or more or less?? So, how do we know for sure? This was my thought for the day.

However, there are a few students who may have a bit of Math to complete for next Tuesday. Pages in the Geometry section should be completed to include R218.

There is no school on Monday, March 9th, for the students. The teachers and support staff all have to be "in school" in North Battleford. So, enjoy your long weekend. I hope that the weather is nice so that you can spend some of your time outside.

That's all for now.

Day 5 - Tuesday, March 3, 2009

The internet was down at school this afternoon and this is my first chance to get at the computer at home.

First, and most important, I wish to thank the Grade 6 class for the wonderful words expressed about me in the presentation of the "Star Student"/ "Star Teacher" awards at today's assembly.

Next, there was some Language Arts that needed to be finished up (Mrs. McLean).
No other homework or tests.

Ski trip fees and forms are due on Thursday - so don't forget.

Parents, look for a note (on hot coral colored 1/2 page) regarding the upcoming "Adolescent Presentations" which Carol Ryan, Public Health Nurse does every year for the grades 4 (girls only) 5's and 6's.

Also, I was sent a package from a company called SchoolTees for the opportunity to order class of '09 tee-shirts, hoodies and sweats or pj pants which would have the school name, student
signatures and other optional items on them. I talked to the students about it and showed them the sample material that was enclosed. They seemed really enthusiastic about the idea of having matching shirts for our year end trip and for Grade 6 Graduation. So, I sent home the order forms with the website information on it. All that I can provide you with is a look at the sample material, if you are interested. Other than that, I have set a deadline date for orders to be in for March 30th. It would take about 4 weeks for the orders to come back. This is completely optional and you are under no obligation to purchase anything.

The students all seemed to do really well today in Geometry measuring angles and naming them, as well as giving the type of angle. Good work, kids!
