Day 5 - Tuesday, December 22, 2009

Merry Christmas and have a great, relaxing, fun holiday.

See you all in the new year - 2010.

Monday, December 21, 2009

Day 4 - Monday, December 21, 2009

Did you know that today is the first day of winter? That means that the hours of daylight will start to increase from now until the summer solstice.

Certain students need to make sure that they have their Hockeyville permission forms at school for Ms. Sperle tomorrow. Others have to make sure that Skills Bank and Social Studies is completed and here tomorrow.

We will be doing a lot of clean up type of activities in the classroom in the morning, as well as attending the Assembly.

Then, the sixes will be having a movie/lunch/snacks time from the end of the assembly until the movie is done, which will make it about 1:00. Then we will pack up and at 1:20 head over to UCHS for the rally to welcome the Latvian and Austrian hockey teams. At the end of the rally students will come back here to get their belongings and will be dismissed at 2:30.

School resumes on Wednesday, January 6th. It will be Day 6.

Friday, December 18, 2009

Day 3 - Friday, December 18, 2009

I hope you were able to catch a Christmas Concert performance today, parents. The students worked hard to get it all together. It was well done.

The Carol Festival is on Sunday. That, too, is something to take in to help us enjoy this festive season.

Between concert performances the students worked hard to complete work so that we can start fresh in January. Some students have some Math, Social and Health to do.

Be sure to spend some time studying for the Science test. That is scheduled for Monday morning.

Monday is a regular day of classes.

Tuesday will be "homeroom" classes. We will have a "Christmas Assembly" right after first recess. After lunch and before early dismissal (2:30) the students will all be going over to UCHS to take part in the pep rally and welcome for our World Junior teams - Austria and Latvia. The buses waiting for the students at the end of the rally.

Don't forget to dress for the "greatest hockey fan" contest on Tuesday and for those people chosen to present gifts to the Austrian team - wearing "good" clothes is required. You are our ambassadors.

Have a good weekend.

Thursday, December 17, 2009

Day 2 - Thursday, December 17, 2009

Christmas Concert at 10 and 1 tomorrow, Friday, December 18, 2009. Please, please, please do not forget to wear the correct colored shirt for our part in the concert - red, green or white.

We have many odds and ends of classes to finish up before we break for the two weeks for Christmas and it is very important that we are able to start "fresh" in 2010.

See you tomorrow!!

Tuesday, December 15, 2009

Day 6 - Tuesday, December 16, 2009

Math p. 101 question 2 is to be done for Wednesday.

Social Studies Land Formations pages and corrections need to be completed for Thursday.

Science Test on Monday, December 21, 2009 - start studying now.

I will be away tomorrow. If you have been missing because of no buses, etc. there is work to catch up because most of the students were at school these last two days.

Dress Rehearsal tomorrow afternoon. Concert on Friday. Make sure your "elf" red, green or white shirts are here for tomorrow and Friday.

The weather is changing for the better! Hooray!

Monday, December 14, 2009

Day 5 - December 14, 2009

Well, I am back at work for a couple of days. My husband's wrist still needs attention. So, I will be gone on Wednesday again.

Some students have Math and Social Studies corrections to do up. We want everything "ship-shape" before we break for Christmas.

Gingerbread House tickets are available until Thursday afternoon.

Wednesday is dress rehearsal and students need to have their green, white or red shirts at school and to be left at school for Friday, if at all possible.

Thanks. Stay warm and hang in there, the "end" is almost here.

Wednesday, December 9, 2009

Day 2 - Wednesday, December 9, 2009

We are working on estimating and working with decimals in Math. If you could keep this in mind whenever you are doing things with your student to help him/her better understand how decimals work and how to make an accurate estimate that would be appreciated.

Health Goals assignment outline is due Monday, December 14th.

Students in grade 6 will need to wear red, green, or white t-shirts (tops). We have elf hats to complete their costuming for the Elf Production Line Rap we are doing as part of the Christmas Concert.

I will talk to you tomorrow.

Monday, December 7, 2009

Day 6 - Monday, December 7, 2009

A chilly good afternoon to you. I hope no one had to spend too much time outside today.

We started Christmas Shadow Boxes today. The students have a number of ideas they are working on. If you have any items that your student could add to the scene in the box that goes with their theme, please send it along. The students seem quite excited about this project.

Wednesday, December 2, 2009

Day 3 - Wednesday, December 2, 2009

Don't be surprised if there is not much Math homework for the next little while. We will still do some Math, but we also have Christmas Concert and Christmas Art to do, so some of our classes are getting "re-adjusted".

Career Education inquiry paragraphs were sent for homework. This is an old assignment that was not done very well by some and not at all by others.

Health Goals Assignment is due next Tuesday.

Stay warm.

Tuesday, December 1, 2009

Study for Math - test on Tuesday.

Have a great "green" weekend. Go Riders!!

Thursday, November 26, 2009

Thursday, November 19, 2009

Day 6 - Thursday, November 19, 2009

No school tomorrow as the Division allows the schools to choose a day off in lieu of the parent teacher interview evenings we have just had. So, we hope every "school" person enjoys the day off.

There are a few students who have Math corrections to catch up. We have been making a huge effort to get old mistakes fixed up as we will be having a Math test on this current unit of work late next week or early the following. It would be a good idea to start reviewing the chapter now so that you don't have to cram later.

Book orders for December went home today - Arrow and the Gift Books (again). They are due next Thursday. That way if you want something in time for Christmas we will have plenty of time to get it here.

Have a good weekend.

Students have been working very hard on catching up Math corrections. Keeping up with corrections on a daily basis would prevent the large amount that has accumulated for some students. Time management is an important skill.

Again, sub lunch forms are due on Thursday. Craft Club forms went out and are also due back on Thursday. Craft Club will be Tuesday, November 24th.

Parents and Students: If you have viewed this blog, please send me an email to let me know.

Tuesday, November 10, 2009

We worked on Order of Operations (introduction) in Math and the Step by Step 7. The Science Test was written by those present. The rest of the students will be doing the test whenever Miss Riddell can have the majority of students back.

Make sure you bring back all of your books and texts when you do return. Try really hard to have most of the work done. Catching up the correcting will take some time too.

Wednesday, November 4, 2009

Day 2 - Wednesday, November 4, 2009

The Math corrections got in the way of many students getting much done on the Math Assignment. Math corrections are the student's responsibility and if they need help, it is their responsibility to see me prior to class or at a recess, prior to Math class, to get help. So, as a result, some students have a lot of Math work to do for tomorrow. They are have done up to and including question 10 on the assigned questions on page 65 & 66, as well as having all corrections done.

Doing corrections as soon as they occur will alleviate this problem.

H1N1 needles will now be given on Monday. Forms must be back tomorrow for Public Health to pick up and work with on Friday.

We also need parent-teacher interview forms back by Friday.

Thank you for all the attention to your child's school work and the multitude of forms that have been coming home lately.

Monday, November 2, 2009

Today, the 6's had a Math assignment from page 23 in the text. They were to complete all parts of questions 4, 5 & 6. Some of them may still have parts of question 5 or 6 to complete. If they are really struggling with these questions, they should come to see me before classes start at 9:00 a.m. I am usually at the school between 8:00 and 8:15 and would be happy to give extra assistance.

Tomorrow is a chance for the students to wear their school colors if they wish.

Next week, starting Thursday, the grade 6's who have volunteered will start the Meals on Wheels program. They need to make sure that they have a lunch here at school in case they are later than 12:00 getting back from the deliveries.

Thanks.

Wednesday, September 23, 2009

Day 4 - Wednesday, September 23, 2009

Tomorrow is Library so please remember to bring your books and put them in the Library Box in the classroom if you are finished with them. Also, bring them along if you just need to renew, too.

See you tomorrow.

Day 3 - Tuesday, September 22, 2009

Welcome back. I hope you had a good "long" weekend. The weather certainly is cooperating. There seem to be more and more students out with flu like symptoms. We appreciate you staying home and getting better. Try to catch up on homework as soon as possible. Either have a family member pick it up, a nearby student can drop it off or, catch it up at school as soon as you return.

Our weekly newsletter went out today, so look for it in the backpacks to make sure you are up to date on the happenings around UPS.

Friday, September 18, 2009

Thursday, September 3, 2009

Day 4 - Thursday, September 3, 2009

Mrs. Soloski

Monday, June 22, 2009 - Day 3

We spent a part of the day in "clean up".
We had a wonderful Awards afternoon and grade 6 farewell/grad.

We are looking for a few books that belong to the classroom library: Book #45 - Summer Ball,
# 92 - That's a Good Question, Canada and #103 Starting with Alice. Please check for these so that our book rack is complete for next year. I am glad to see students enjoying the selections from that book rack, though.

If you still have quite a lot of possessions here at the school bring an extra bag so that you can take it all home on Tuesday. Do not leave things behind. The "lost and found" in the main hallway is fairly extensive. Be sure to take your things. Also, check the boot racks for footwear that is yours and take it with you.

Tomorrow there is swimming - so come prepared.

You may pick up report cards on Friday morning. I hope to see all of you then so that I can wish you well in grade 7, in person.

I will blog again on Friday.

Thursday, June 18, 2009

The Grade 6 Graduation and Awards afternoon is on Monday, June 22, beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Students need to start to take home supplies that they did not use this year and can use next year. If they start to take a few extra things each day, then Monday and Tuesday will not be so heavy!!

Hang in there - the end is near!

P.S. We had a wonderful class trip to Drumheller. I am so glad that I was able to go.

See ya on Thursday.

Monday, June 8, 2009

To accommodate Mrs. Soloski's teaching time in Wilkie, there is a day switch so that Wednesday is Day 2 and Thursday is Day 1, then Friday is Day 3. That way I can be on UPS days for our class trip.
That's all for now. I will be back at UPS on Thursday morning to leave on our trip.

Day 1 - Tuesday, June 2, 2009

Hello,
Well, we had an interesting day with a play performance, followed by an assembly, CAT 3 testing in Lang. Arts, the grade 6 tour at UCHS, lunch, the movie Earth and then home.
Remember to try to bring toothpaste tube caps or a lid similar to that for Math, and there were BBQ lunch forms sent home today.
CAT testing continues on Thursday and Monday. It is so important to be here for those, as it is very difficult to catch them up, but they must be caught up. We have a deadline to be finished by June 10th.
We are on the home stretch. Hang in there.

Friday, May 29, 2009

Day 5 - Friday, May 29, 2009

What a great day for Track and Field! The students did a great job in their various competitions.

Ask your child for the "bright blue" note that was sent home today. It is in regard to Rodeo Parade and permission and also about the upcoming trip to the theatre on Tuesday afternoon to watch the movie "Earth", thanks to the generosity of our SCC. There is no money required for admission or treats (SCC covered it), but it is just to let you know where your kids are.

The grade 6 class needs to complete several tests for the CAT (Canadian Achievement Tests) in Language Arts and Math, over the next two weeks. It is essential that your child participate in this nation-wide testing. So, attendance is really important every day.

Have a great weekend and I will be here next Tuesday and Thursday.

Wednesday, May 27, 2009

Day 3 - Wednesday, May 27, 2009

A little bit of homework for students to do up. It is important that it gets done, with track meets taking up time, plus other grade 6 and school events taking away class time.

L.A. - Spaced Out Food article: summarize 12 points.
Social Studies - page 12, map of USA states labelled.

Remember to come fully prepared for the track meet on Friday.

See you then.

Monday, May 25, 2009

Day 1 - Monday, May 25, 2009

Hi (from home - school internet wouldn't let me on),

We had a good and productive Monday. Enjoy the beautiful weather.

Be sure to go over the areas that caused you trouble for the Math test on Wednesday.

You also need to have the "French Fish" done for Miss Riddell for tomorrow.

Don't miss the Musical performance, I Need a Vacation, at the UPS gym Tuesday evening at
7 p.m. The students have done a marvelous job on this.

Lastly, students will be running the 400 and 800 meter races on Wednesday or Thursday afternoon, so they should come prepared for those races.

So long for now.

Thursday, May 21, 2009

Day 5 - Thursday, May 21, 2009

We worked like beavers today and got Math corrections done, Math assignments completed and corrected and also wrote a Social Studies quiz.

Besides that, we enjoyed watching the "musical" dress rehearsal. The School Tees orders arrived. We were pleased with that.

There is a Math test on Wednesday, May 27, 2009. Please be here for it and be ready. It will cover mixed numbers and improper fractions, ratio and percent and relating percent to decimals and fractions. In class work has been very good, but you need to do well on the test, too.

Have a good weekend and start reviewing your Math now in case you have to have me clarify something for you on Monday.

See you then.

Tuesday, May 19, 2009

Day 3 - Tuesday, May 19, 2009

Welcome back from the long weekend. Interesting weather to try to "dress" for, isn't it?

About 1/3 or 33% of the class has Math homework. Be sure all the pages up to and including page 73 are completed. Check the instructions.

There is a Social Studies quiz on Thursday on the first section of our unit on Canada's Trading Partners. Study and read over the notes and questions up to where we completed today.

Tomorrow is Sports Spirit Day.

The Track and Field day is scheduled for Friday, May 29th and the play - A Distrubing Secret - will be performed on June 2nd at 9 a.m.

That's all for now.

Not too much to report today.

Students involved in the grade 6 play need to make sure that the props they promised are here and ready to go for Tuesday.

Have a great long weekend.

See you on Thursday.

Friday, May 8, 2009

Day 3 - Friday, May 8, 2009

Another week is behind us. The time is going so quickly.

Some students may have Math to finish up. We are currently working on Fractions, Ratios and Percent and the relationships among them. The only fraction concept students need to master is changing mixed numbers (like 3 1/2) to an improper fraction (7/2) or the reverse, improper fractions to mixed numbers. ex: 10/3 = 3 2/3. Also putting these mixed number fractions into simplest form ex: 2/4 = 1/2. Please let me know if you find your child not able to do these things at home.
Tuesday we start into percent.

The next "hot lunch" from the SCC is on Wednesday the 13th.

Have a Happy Mother's Day, Moms.

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

Day 1 - Wednesday, May 6, 2009

Day 1 - Thursday, March 5, 2009

I have never known exactly how many days of weather at the beginning of March decides whether March came in like a lion or a lamb. It was kind of lamb like a couple of days ago, but before that it was more lion like. Today, is an incredibly upset lion. Do we have to have 3 in a row or more or less?? So, how do we know for sure? This was my thought for the day.

However, there are a few students who may have a bit of Math to complete for next Tuesday. Pages in the Geometry section should be completed to include R218.

There is no school on Monday, March 9th, for the students. The teachers and support staff all have to be "in school" in North Battleford. So, enjoy your long weekend. I hope that the weather is nice so that you can spend some of your time outside.

That's all for now.

Day 5 - Tuesday, March 3, 2009

The internet was down at school this afternoon and this is my first chance to get at the computer at home.

First, and most important, I wish to thank the Grade 6 class for the wonderful words expressed about me in the presentation of the "Star Student"/ "Star Teacher" awards at today's assembly.

Next, there was some Language Arts that needed to be finished up (Mrs. McLean).
No other homework or tests.

Ski trip fees and forms are due on Thursday - so don't forget.

Parents, look for a note (on hot coral colored 1/2 page) regarding the upcoming "Adolescent Presentations" which Carol Ryan, Public Health Nurse does every year for the grades 4 (girls only) 5's and 6's.

Also, I was sent a package from a company called SchoolTees for the opportunity to order class of '09 tee-shirts, hoodies and sweats or pj pants which would have the school name, student
signatures and other optional items on them. I talked to the students about it and showed them the sample material that was enclosed. They seemed really enthusiastic about the idea of having matching shirts for our year end trip and for Grade 6 Graduation. So, I sent home the order forms with the website information on it. All that I can provide you with is a look at the sample material, if you are interested. Other than that, I have set a deadline date for orders to be in for March 30th. It would take about 4 weeks for the orders to come back. This is completely optional and you are under no obligation to purchase anything.

The students all seemed to do really well today in Geometry measuring angles and naming them, as well as giving the type of angle. Good work, kids!

Friday, February 27, 2009 - Day 3

TGIF! I think the first week back after a break and it being very cold outside has had negative effects on many. The week seemed abnormally long for all of us (teachers and students) and it has been a struggle to get back into routine.

Having said that, it is supposed to warm up and hopefully the efforts in school will warm up, too. The Math Test is over, but was an ordeal for many students. You really do have to listen in class and study!

There is no homework, no tests coming up. Just a reminder about ski trip forms & money and pizza lunch money all due next week (the 3rd and the 5th).

Have a good weekend and come back refreshed.

Wednesday, February 25, 2009

Wednesday, February 25, 2009 - Day 1

We had a busy day today, but fairly productive.

Certain students need and must have their complete timeline information here by Friday.

MATH TEST - We will be having a Math Test on Measurement - Perimeter, Area and Volume on Friday. The students will be allowed to use calculators for this test. I expect to see 80% or better on this test.

Grade 6 has Library tomorrow - so don't forget your books for return or renewal.

Today, Ski Trip (4,5,6) forms and Pizza Lunch forms went home. Please note the dates that these forms must be back at the school with the money. Pizza Lunch - Mar. 3 and Ski Trip - Mar. 5.

Telemiracle coins for tomorrow are loonies and toonies.

Lastly, Alphabet Letter Spirit Day is tomorrow. Have fun!

Monday, February 23, 2009

Day 5 - Monday, February 23, 2009

Welcome back! For me, Cuba was great. The white stuff on the ground was not snow and the temperatures were on the plus side of 25 all of the time. I hope you all had a good break and were able to refresh, recharge and maybe do something fun or interesting.

There is no homework from today.

REMINDERS - For Social Studies timelines (Wednesday) students need 10 events and the dates for their personal timeline. Start with being born. Plus, they should have 1 or 2 "world" events that have happened during their lifetime.

Alphabet Letter Spirit Day is coming up on Thursday. Pick a letter and dress in all things that start with that letter - K - kilt, khakis, knee pads, king's crown, etc.

Telemiracle 33 Coin Drive - tomorrow is pennies and nickels, Wednesday is dimes and quarters and Thursday is Loonies and Toonies.

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

Day 1 - Tuesday, February 10, 2009

The only homework students have is to find dates for a timeline of events that were significant in their lives - so from 1996-97 (birth) to present. They need at least 10 events. Then, they need to find two other "world events" or inventions that have happened during their lifetime to add into their timeline. They need these dates and a brief description of the event for Monday, February 23rd Social Studies.

I will be leaving for Cuba tomorrow, so I won't be blogging until February 23rd.

Have a great school break.

Day 5 - Friday, February 6, 2009

It's the weekend.

I am doing this from home as I was unable to be at school today. I have an inflamed tendon in my left shoulder (maybe bursitis) and it is very difficult and painful to get dressed, let alone do much of anything else.

So, I spoke with Mr. Vetter this morning and asked him to make sure that the Landforms and Water Terms assignment, plus all word puzzles, etc. were done, and if taken for homework, must be handed in on Tuesday.

Since I am at home, I do not know of anything else that I need to remind you of, but if/when I get to the school, and there is something, I will "blog" again.

Thanks to the anonymous contributor and your comments. I appreciate your kind feedback.

Have a great weekend.

Day 3 - Wednesday, February 4, 2009

We had a very productive day today.

We started our Measurement Unit in Math and after completing the first 4 pages, still had time to work on the Snowman Construction Project.

Then, the students worked diligently on completing Social Assignments (for marks). Everyone should make sure that they are finished up to "water terms" in the last assignment. You will have time on Friday to work on the Water Terms section before handing it in. It is absolutely due on Tuesday, February 10, so don't put it off. These are easy to earn marks with a little concentration and effort.

I still need 3 Interim Report cards and a Decision Tree assignment - you know who you are. Take care of it a.s.a.p.

Enjoy the beautiful weather for awhile before attacking the homework, though.

Day 1 - Monday, February 2, 2009

Did the groundhog get it right? I guess we will see.

Today was a very productive day. The students started a snowman construction project in Math and made great progress. Tell/Ask about it.

Working in Social Studies, all first projects on the Island of Zane were handed in and many students are working on part 3 of 4 in the subsequent assignments. The only item that needs to be done for Wednesday is the Cross Word Puzzle on the "brown" page.

Also, super results getting the Interim Reports back quickly. Only 5 still to come. Way to go, kids and parents. Thanks.

If you have Music to get in to Miss Martin, do it up quickly.

See you on Wednesday.

Thursday, January 29, 2009 - Day 5

The Interim Report Cards went home today. So, please have look at them with your parents, remind them to sign the space at the back and add comments, if you wish. I'd really like to get all the report cards back before the end of next week.

Some students have Math corrections to finish up, Music assignment, Health and Social Studies.
In Social Studies students are doing a series of assignments (worth marks) rather than a test, to show what they learned in this mapping unit.

Friday is curling for Grade 6, so please come prepared.

Geometry and Measurement are coming up in Math, so please have a good ruler at school.

I'll be back Monday.

Tuesday, January 27, 2009

Day 3 - Tuesday, January 27, 2009

We had a busy, but productive day.

Students need to go over all of the types of questions in their Math to be ready for the Math test on Thursday. If you have questions you need to see me first thing in the morning. Corrections need to be done for Thursday and doing them will also help you review and study.

Music for Miss Martin.

Social Studies elevation activity must be done for Thursday morning. Health Decision Tree good copy must be done for Thursday, as well.

Tomorrow grade 6 is going curling. Be sure you have all of the equipment you need and gloves.

Interim Report cards will be coming home on Thursday, so parents, be on the look out for them.

Thanks. That's all for now.

Day 1 - Friday, January 23, 2009

Hurray! Another week behind us.

It is very important to have Math and corrections completed up to and including page 53 for Tuesday, as we have a MATH TEST on the concepts in this section on THURSDAY, January 29th.

Music is due on Tuesday, too.

Craft Club is on Tuesday.

Good work on the In Motion Grade 6.

Have a great weekend.

Wednesday, January 21, 2009

Wednesday, January 21, 2009 - Day 6

Good work today, everyone! We managed to get a lot of corrections taken care of, plus having lots of time to work on the Math assignment today. Today's Math was dividing decimals and solving number problems. So all pages up to and including page 50 in Math should be done for Friday. If you can't get a couple of the page 50 problems, give it a good try and we will discuss them on Friday.

Miss Martin indicates that the Music booklet is due on Tuesday. Have it done.

Sub lunch tomorrow.

That's all for now.

Monday, January 19, 2009

Monday, January 19, 2009 - Day 3

Wow! Isn't this mild weather great. I hope everyone was able to get out and enjoy the fresh air.

Today we worked hard to get Math corrections done up and had lots of class time to work on today's assignment. If you were successful in avoiding Math for homework, make sure that you know what you have to do and the corrections, and hand it in for correcting on Wednesday morning. Just a few more pages and test time will be here.

Ask yourself: Do I have Science to do? How about Social Studies, Music, L.A., Art (stay in at recess), Health?? Once you start to get behind in your work it gets more and more difficult to get caught up. So keep on working.

Remember: Spirit Day tomorrow - p.j.'s, slippers, a stuffie (bed hair).
Sub sandwiches lunch (if ordered) on Thursday.

Oh yes, I still need 3 (only 3) Math tests signed and returned. You know who you are.

Chat with you on Wednesday.

Thursday, January 15, 2009

Day 1 - Thursday, January 14, 2009

Just a reminder - for those of you who did not hand in Math today - please be sure to hand it in on Friday or Monday morning by 9:00 a.m. Be done up to and including page 46 - remember page 45 is the even numbered questions only. Also have your corrections done up.

A few students still need to do the Social - Coloring to Show Contours page and their Math yellow pages corrections.

Five Math tests still need to be signed and brought back to school.

Tuesday is pyjamas, fuzzy slipper and favorite stuffie day and stay dressed like that for Reading Night starting at 7:00 p.m. Hope to see you there.

Have a good weekend.

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

Day 5 - Tuesday, January 13, 2009

Another busy day! In Math, all pages up to and including page 43 in the multiplication section need to be done for Thursday. Corrections, too. Some students still need to get "yellow booklet" corrections done up.

Social Studies - finish the coloring on the Contour map on page 41 of our booklet.

Thanks for the quick return of the Math tests. There are only a few not in, so that was great.

Until Thursday.....

Friday, January 9, 2009

Friday, January 9, 2009 - Day 3

Well the first week back went sailing by and we succeeded in accomplishing a lot.

There are still some students with Math (yellow booklet) corrections to be done and handed in.
Math homework from today would be pages 37 - 40 (however, pages 37 & 38 were done in class so they should be completed already. 39 and 40 need to be done for Tuesday. Brush up on your multiplication so that you can win at Bus Stop.

Music homework - pages 24 to 27 for Tuesday, Jan. 13th.

Sub Orders still can be brought in until Tuesday, Jan. 13th, as well.

Math Tests went home today. Congratulations to the many students who had really good results. Please sign the test at the top of the first page and return them to me as soon as you can.

Have a great weekend.

Wednesday, January 7, 2009

Wednesday, January 7, 2009 - Day 1

Some reminders:
Book Orders are due on Friday - sorry for the short turn around time, but they only arrived yesterday.
Sub Lunch forms and money due on Tuesday, the 13th.
Some students will have corrections to do when they get to school tomorrow. Their yellow review booklets will be on their desks. Please have the corrections completed for Friday.
There are still 4 students who have to finish the mapping assignment in the Social Studies - What in the World. Your names are on the board. Please have it completed for Friday. You can earn up to 30 marks for it.
I think we have had a great start back to school. See you on Friday.

Day 5 - Monday, January 5, 2009

Happy New Year and welcome back to school!!

I am glad to be back. The students may have a slightly different opinion because they have a Math test on Wednesday. The test is on multiples, factors, factor trees, prime and composite numbers, LCM and GCF, divisibility rules, arrays and problem solving.

A yellow 4 paged study/review booklet was worked on today and is intended for helping to review for the test and it must be completed for Wednesday morning so that it can be corrected and areas of difficulty can be looked at before the test, which will be right after lunch.

For those students who still have What in the World mapping to complete - it must be done for Friday. Work on it at school during recesses or in spare time and at home (use the internet if you do not have an atlas).

Thanks, too, for the 27 voice rendition of "Happy Birthday". That was very cool.
